GM Ryan is a professional search firm narrowly focused on the digital media industry, and they are putting their skills to work on behalf of a dynamic online advertising network start-up looking for a Director, Advertising Operations. Your resume should feature 7-10 years of professional experience, including 3-5 years in ad operations and related fields, preferably with an ad network or large advertising agency.

Ogilvy PR is in search mode for an entry-level Assistant Account Executive, Social Marketing with a degree in public relations, public health, communications or related field, and very strong (meaning: fluent) bilingual skills (Spanish-English). PR firms also tend to value folks who can meet a deadline, so I’d take their 5:00 p.m., Jan. 28 application cut-off seriously, if I were you.

We previously featured this Senior Administrative Assistant (supporting govt. affairs staff) job with the American Bankers Association. The position is still listed there, it still pays $43k-$45k, and we have no idea if they are already interviewing candidates.

The National Telecommunications Cooperative Association seeks one of those outgoing, self-motivated types, preferably with 2-4 years of congressional staff experience for the usual blend of lobbying, legislative analysis and related duties that go with a title like Government Affairs Representative.

I really like the way Novartis goes with the word “accountabilities” in their Director of Health Policy (search using DC location or job ID 38406BR) in place of the more commonly-used responsibilities or duties. Said accountabilities include: develop and carry out Novartis’ agenda on issues including Medicare Part D, Health Information Technology, health reform and the uninsured; and “own” (again, a distinctive word choice!) the Novartis relationship with CMS for Medicare Part D. Nice work, Novartis HR folks!

A veritable Shangri-La on Lee Highway: friendly, creative working environment, state-of-the art technology, and competitive salaries and benefits packages – it can be yours as a Senior Account Executive at JDG Communications. Strategic thinkers, detail-obsessives, and folks with a passion for great customer service are encouraged to apply. Speaking of obsessives – their directions/map/contact page, is, well, obsessively accurate and impressively clear. I like these people, just from looking at their website.

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs has recently posted an opportunity for a DC-based Director of Sudan Program. Successful candidate will manage overall strategy and vision for NDI's programs in Sudan and handles all aspects of program management. Position requirements include a minimum of 12 years relevant work experience in international development or related public affairs fields; Arabic language ability preferred.

Porter-Novelli has been working on a web redesign recently, and their career site is back in business. It appears the DC office is looking for a Senior Vice President, Consumer Food Business with plenty of senior-level experience and expertise. Worth noting: the job is also posted under New York, Chicago and San Francisco offices.

The American Foreign Service Association seeks an Executive Director (see word doc link) to oversee a staff of 28, manage multiple non-profit entities (a labor union, two charitable organizations, and a PAC), and provide leadership for all AFSA programs and services – also including the Foreign Service Journal.

Masters degree? Check. Two+ years experience? Got it. Arabic language skills? Solid. Ok then, you’re all set to apply for the Government Affairs Consultant position with DLA Piper. Your tasks there will include providing expertise & guidance on Lebanese & Middle Eastern government affairs, including lobbying, public relations, and economic analysis – just remember: Everything Matters to these people.

Our job searcher’s resource for today – the Good Jobs, Green Jobs conference, Feb. 4-6, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, including a free Job Expo on Feb. 5 – see a list of exhibitors here (note: pdf file).
