Public Campaign Action Fund - Online Organizer

Public Campaign Action Fund , a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving elections and holding politicians accountable, is hiring an Online Organizer.

We’re looking for an ambitious Online Organizer that can drive a money-in-politics message into the political debate online, engage new audiences, and grow our base of supporters through the election and beyond.

The bottom-line is this: Want a 9-to-5 job? Don’t apply. But if you’re an ambitious, driven professional with a million ideas, even if some of them are crazy, and want to work somewhere that was viewed as a plus, keep reading.

Since 1997, Public Campaign Action Fund (PCAF) has been a leading national advocate for far-reaching change in the way elections are financed, and has led national and state issue campaigns to pass comprehensive campaign finance legislation. It is the premier national campaign reform group holding elected officials accountable year-round, including during elections, on where they get their money and what they do in exchange.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an Online Organizer who will develop and implement a strategy for online communications and organizing related to our accountability work. Position will be responsible for all aspects of social media and online organizing program to build and activate the base of supporters. Online Organizer will be flexible in tackling work projects and campaigns. Specifically, we are looking for a skill set or demonstrated ability to learn how to accomplish much of the following:
• Identify opportunities and to support allied organizations' research and communication needs in connecting their policy and issue campaigns to the role of big money in politics, including rapid response campaigns.
• Develop and send online communications that highlight the core message of PCAF and take advantage of key political moments.
• Create, implement, and evaluate online activism opportunities that will build a pipeline of activists to hold pro-special interest elected officials accountable.
• Help design and launch accountability efforts with state organizations regarding key congressional targets.
• Participate in the development, conceptualization, and implementation of campaigns to highlight the impact of money-in-politics.
• Utilize data analytics to advise digital strategy across campaigns.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The ideal candidates will meet all of the following criteria:

• Commitment to social and economic justice.

In addition, candidates for this position should have some or all of the specific experience(s) listed below:
• Familiarity and experience with an expansive toolbox of strategies to move targets and/or messages to voters, including some of the following: earned media, online activism, direct action, etc.
• Experience conceptualizing and running online campaigns, including petitions, fundraising, blog outreach, social media sites, and using online metrics and analytics.
• Experience w/ photo, video or design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, or Premiere.
