We woke up this morning with this thought in our heads: forget end-of-the-world silliness and fiscal cliff diversions, and concentrate instead on this lovely fact: right about that time the North Pole was at its maximum tilt away from the Sun for the year  (6:12 a.m.) – and we Northern Hemisphere-dwelling folks will now start to see daylight times lengthen a tiny bit each day until late June. 

And right then, we knocked our lamp over, plunging us again into darkness.  We're not sure what the lesson is on that, but, hey, let's be careful out there.
