Reingold - Mid-Level and Sr. Media Relations Associates

Reingold, Inc., a leading Washington metropolitan marketing and communications firm, offers
an outstanding opportunity for a creative mid-level and senior-level media relations professional to develop a media relations program, providing newsworthy and accurate information to the media, cultivate cutting edge story ideas, develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, effective “pitching” ability, and have the ability to work independently and/or in a team environment to meet client deliverables. Prestige clients include associations, educational institutions, government agencies, corporations, and nonprofit organizations.

We’re looking for the usual things: intelligence, creativity, experience, management acumen, rave reviews, and someone who can write like the Dickens! But we’re also looking for more: entrepreneurial initiative, balance, willingness to work and think hard, commitment to the team, practical perfectionism, a sense of humor, discipline, and eagerness to chart unfamiliar territory and “Think Big.” Our work involves the full range of organizational advancement services, including creative planning, smart strategy, able project management, new program/product research, writing and editing, and managing client communications, promotions, and public relations.

This position demands a versatile self-starter with strong intellect and initiative, total reliability, and top-flight communication skills. Our media relations associates lead media campaigns, maintain client relations, and develop strategy—while launching demanding projects and adding
value to each and every client assignment. The successful candidate will have experience creating and evaluating integrated communications campaigns and/or change management initiatives.

A bachelor’s degree and minimum of five to seven years’ experience in media relations, communications, management consulting, business, public administration, or related field is required; seven to ten years’ experience preferred. Agency experience and client/account management experience is essential; new business development and proposal writing experience a plus.

Additional requirements:
-- Demonstrated the ability to draft and edit communications materials including press releases, fact sheets, talking points, executive briefings, etc.
-- Experience in managing media relationships, story placement, and coordination of media
distribution.
-- Proficiency in account management (action memos, reports, proposals, approvals),
budget creation, and analysis.
-- Ability to provide guidance to account managers and executive leadership.
-- Ability to develop creative solutions to public relations issues.
-- Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems and hurdles that threaten timelines, budgets,
and/or completion of key projects and client deliverables.
-- Strong technical/computer skills including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Mac experience preferred.

We offer creative freedom, a supportive, team-based work environment, challenging assignments, superb clients, and the chance to make a difference. The interviewing process will include writing skills assessment and presentation of an integrated media relations plan. Salary is commensurate with experience. Please email cover letter including salary history and expectations, and resume to HR@reingold.com or fax to 703.299.2424. No phone calls, please.
