Get Covered America – Communications Fellow

Location: Washington, DC

Start date: Immediately

Get Covered America is seeking Fall Fellows to assist the Communications department with day-to-day operations starting immediately. This is a great opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced communications headquarters, working alongside high-level staff to craft and amplify our organization’s core message through earned media during this historic time for health care reform.

The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, have an interest in the communications field, nonprofit work and/or health policy and is dedicated to the mission of the organization.

Communications Fellow responsibilities will include:
--Compiling daily clips reports and monitoring news coverage
--Building and maintaining press lists and other administrative duties
--Pitching reporters and helping to line up background information for reporters
--Identifying and writing out individual consumer stories
--Drafting and editing press releases, advisories, talking points and statements

This is an unpaid position.

Required hours: 10-40 hours per week

Get Covered America is a project of Enroll America, a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to maximizing the number of uninsured Americans who enroll in health coverage made available by the Affordable Care Act. Get Covered America will work at the national, state, and local levels to make this happen.

Fall Fellows for Get Covered America in Washington, DC will work closely with staff and will be an integral part of our success as an organization. The core of our work will take place in several target states, organizing communities and going door to door to get uninsured Americans up to speed on the opportunities made possible by the Affordable Care Act. At our DC Headquarters, various departments focus on facilitating and serving on-the-ground work in the states.
