The National Association of Letter Carriers, an AFL-CIO affiliated union, representing over 290,000 active and retired letter carriers is seeking an assistant in its Department of Legislative and Political Affairs in Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate should be a politically savvy team-player and self-starter with excellent organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills. In addition, the candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

The position is based in Washington, D.C and will provide support to the Department leads on the legislative and political front including: researching and tracking federal races, organizing candidate interviews, providing assistance on political action committee requests and FEC reporting, generating and providing various reports on legislative and political activities to department leads and union officers, communicating with union members, providing regular support on field based activities, assisting with preparation of materials for use in the field, organizing department trainings, events, briefings and other duties as assigned.

A bachelor’s degree in political science along with one to three years of experience working federal campaigns, fundraising and/or Capitol Hill is preferred. Experience with Cision (formerly VOCUS) to track and monitor grassroots activity and political disbursements is preferred. Excellent computer, database and presentation skills desired.
