Director of Government and Political Affairs

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) is a non-profit national trade association seeking an organized, experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of director of government and political affairs. For more information on the association please click here.

This position requires an individual to manage, facilitate and grow CONCRETEPAC fundraising operations and political programs. CONCRETEPAC is NRMCA’s bi-partisan, multi-candidate federal political action committee (PAC) registered with the Federal Election Committee (FEC). The position also requires the individual to engage membership in the political process, educate members on why political giving is important as well as comply with federal election laws. This position will also create all PAC fundraising strategies and solicitation materials, sustain recognition programs, run the corporate sponsorship program, and maintain knowledge of current PAC trends. Position will identify potential candidates and incumbents who are supportive of NRMCA’s advocacy program. As well, the position may include engaging and educating federal officials to seek beneficial outcomes for our issue-driven advocacy program.

Primary duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Daily management and development of CONCRETEPAC, including FEC compliance efforts, database maintenance, organized receipt and disbursement recordkeeping;
• Creation of annual PAC budget and recommendation lists, coordination on events and distribution of disbursements;
• Execution of all fundraising efforts including events at association meetings;
• Maintain all CONCRETEPAC collateral materials including newsletters, reports, letterhead, etc;
• Coordinate and communicate with other government affairs staff members on industry issues;
• Monitoring, attending and reporting on congressional hearings;
• Drafting congressional testimony, issue papers, weekly and monthly periodicals, grassroots letters, Legislative and Executive Branch communications, membership issue alerts, updates and presentations;
• Participate in Capitol Hill briefings and meetings with congressional staff and Members of Congress on behalf of association membership;
• Work on special projects and other duties to promote departmental success;
• Provide a strong and credible voice for the association and the industry with key stakeholders;
• Provide professional leadership to the political development work of NRMCA

Position requires:
• Some association travel;
• Compliance with Lobbying Disclosure Act rules and regulations;
• Knowledge of Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulation of PAC administration

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the workings of the Legislative and Executive Branches, with approximately 3 to 5 years of political fundraising, PAC administration, and/or Capitol Hill experience, and at least a Bachelor’s Degree. This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Government and Political Affairs. Competitive salary and benefits package offered to the successful candidate.
