Gibraltar Associates, a public affairs, issues management and communications consulting company with offices in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, has an immediate opening for a mid-level research and issues management associate with direct experience in the domestic HIV/AIDS space. The ideal candidate must have strong research (non-medical) or grassroots background, an awareness of healthcare policy trends, especially related to domestic HIV/AIDS policy, as well as strong written and oral communications skills. The successful candidate will help manage account work, liaise with clients and stakeholders and participate in strategic planning sessions. Experience in accessing public databases, analyzing data and policy trends, and providing concise assessments based on data is a requirement. The selected candidate must have a strong academic background and bring superior research and technology skills to the position. Past work in a public affairs or public relations company a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill research requests as needed for clients and management
- Analyze data and information and draft summaries and reports as needed for clients and management
- Manage and implement projects for clients under tight deadlines
- Maintain strong knowledge base of current affairs related to multiple clients
- Produce project work plans and serve as point of contact for the execution of special projects
- Build and manage any necessary lists or databases for clients
- Develop and maintain stakeholder and partner relationships
- Create fact sheets, news kits and other collateral materials required to implement client goals
- Support expansion and maintenance of company and client websites
- Assist management in preparing for new business presentations
Qualifications:
- Exceptional research and analysis skills
- Strong written and editing skills with demonstrated abilities to produce coherent reports, graphs, charts, presentations, news releases and other documents relevant to representing the company to clients and the outside world
- Superior verbal communications skills
- Public policy awareness or experience, particularly in the domestic HIV/AIDS space
- Superior time-management skills and proven ability to execute long-term projects
- Team player with ability to lead or follow direction from clients and management
- At least two years experience in the research arena, public policy, public relations, media or related field, especially in the domestic HIV/AIDS area
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); some background with HTML programming and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop) helpful
