62 on Thursday

Friday update: IT-related circumstances dictate that there will be no new post today (or a greatly delayed edition), which is a shame because we have some great direct-to-us submissions to share.  Maybe we'll be able to get these rolling over the weekend, or we'll have a lot of great stuff on Monday.  In any event, best wishes for a fine Friday & winning weekend from your favorite™ (we hope we're still your favorite!) public affairs jobs resource.

We'd be happier if that was a forecast high temperature for today, but we're also fairly satisfied w/ today's 62 jobs and internships haul.  Enjoy.

Hatcher Group - Intern

The Hatcher Group communications firm is seeking a candidate for a paid full-time internship in its Baltimore office to begin in May 2014 and lasting three to six months. There is a possibility that the internship could lead to a permanent staff position.

Requirements: Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, and some relevant work experience, be highly organized and exhibit strong writing, editing and computer skills, including in web research and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Candidates should also have basic graphic design skills, ideally using such programs as InDesign or Photoshop, and demonstrated experience using social media. Experience creating or designing websites is a plus.

Responsibilities: The intern will work with us on a variety of client projects. Tasks may include:

· media and advocacy outreach

· writing press releases and media advisories

· researching and creating databases and media lists

· event planning

· web site updating

· preparation of reports and media briefing packets

· social media outreach and tracking

· administrative duties

The intern may also assist with design projects, including creating printed documents, PowerPoints and e-cards.

This position pays $10 an hour, with no benefits, for up to 40 hours a week. Our small, friendly office is in mid-town and easily reached by mass transit.

The Hatcher Group is a full-service public affairs and communications firm that helps to connect our clients with policymakers, media and the public. We work with major national foundations, research institutions and nonprofit organizations to advance progressive policy change.
