Hunt Alternatives Fund - Communications Assistant
temporary position supporting the Institute for Inclusive Security
Washington, DC
The Hunt Alternatives Fund is looking for candidates who have experience producing high-quality communications products. Applicants need not have experience with all of the wide range of activities and products the assistant will support but should have strong work samples in at least one area of creative production. The person who assumes this position will play an integral role on a small communications team with an all-hands-on-deck approach to work. It’s a great opportunity for a communications professional to gain experience with a variety of communications activities. Our ideal candidate is creative, enthusiastic, an excellent writer, and proactively contributes ideas for how we can reach our team goals.
The incumbent of this position will report to the Institute’s Communications Manager. This is a temporary position at 40 hours per week. Expected duration of the assignment is up to three months.
Qualifications
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and attend to multiple assignments
• Meticulous attention to detail and eye for copyediting
• Capacity to take initiative and creatively solve problems
• Facility for thriving in a fast-paced environment and maintaining flexibility in the face of shifting priorities
• Positive attitude, excellent judgment, and pleasant email and telephone manner
• Experience working in a nonprofit communications team
• Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and the Adobe Suite
• Experience hand-coding basic HTML and CSS
• Experience producing digital content, such as professional-quality photos, graphics, blog posts, and videos
• Experience with Wordpress or similar CMS and Mailchimp preferred
• A minimum of two years work experience
