The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to creating a vibrant and purposeful Jewish community. Federation cares for those in need, deepens engagement in Jewish life, and strengthens the bonds among Jews in the Washington area, in Israel, and around the world. Our primary functions are community planning and allocations, financial resource development, and leadership development.

The Digital Communications Manager will conceive, create and execute innovative digital and social media campaigns and strategy. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing, the Digital Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of digital marketing, including websites, e-communications and social media.

• Manage all aspects of the organization’s websites and microsites, ensuring that all content is up-to-date and maintains our brand standards that the site functions smoothly and effectively, and seeks out new opportunities to present the organization and its programs on the web.
• Manage and facilitate all aspects of the organization’s e-communications including, but not limited to, e-blast and e-newsletters on multilple platforms.
• Manage and lead the organization’s social media efforts, ensuring an active and effective presence on key social networking sites.
• Work with Marketing staff to integrate e-marketing and e-philanthropy into all aspects of the organization.
• Remain abreast of technological advances in the field and identify ways in which the organization can better use social media and the web to support its marketing efforts.
• Regularly report actionable site analytics to determine on-going site strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply creativity and design sensibilities to all aspects of the web.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Web Design, Visual Communications, Marketing or related field
• Experience with WordPress open source platform
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript/PHP
• Experience with MailChimp, or other email marketing tool
• Google Adwords (experience or willingness to learn)
• Google Analytics and proven record of reporting site metrics and providing action steps
• Experience with managing Social Media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube
• Facilitate and manage e-communications & e-philanthropy campaigns
• Exceptional organization and communications skills
• Knowledge of organic search engine optimization techniques
• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver and In Design)
• Video Encoding/Video Formats for the Web/ Audio Visual Production and Editing – Desirable

The successful candidate must be a highly productive and efficiency-minded self-starter with an attention to detail, the ability to work independently and collaboratively—and still meet tight deadlines; must employ a professional, customer- and team-oriented work approach, and have the ability to work with a variety of people. Project management experience is a must. The candidate should also have a positive, "can do" attitude, dynamic problem solving skills and the ability to follow directions. Experience with and commitment to the Jewish community, with a working knowledge of Jewish customs, traditions and current events is a plus.
