Event Planning & Marketing Intern
Summer and Fall 2017
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Capitol Hill BID is seeking a part-time (8-15 hr/week) event planning and marketing intern to assist with planning the annual Magic & Miracles fundraiser for our non-profit organization Ready, Willing & Working (RWW). RWW empowers people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, and incarceration through a residential, paid-work rehabilitation program offering support services, a sense of community, and teaching the skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency.
The internship will begin in June/July 2017 and be finished by the end of the fall 2017 semester (early-mid December). Magic & Miracles is expected to be held on the evening of either Wednesday, November 29th or Thursday, November 20th. It is preferred that the intern will be able to attend the event to assist with setup and other on-site support as needed.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• preparing and distributing event invitations
• tracking RSVPs
• updating contact databases
• making follow up phone calls to invite DC Councilmembers, US Congress members and Senators to be a part of the Honorary Host Committee
• assisting with coordinating the event's silent auction
• writing press releases and assisting in media outreach
• miscellaneous tasks as directed by BID Staff
This is a paid internship. The intern will also receive SmartTrip refill cards to commute to and from the internship.

QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent interpersonal, communication, event planning, and writing skills. Comfortable making phone calls.
