If you're one of those folks who marks summer from the Summer Solstice (June 20) to the Vernal Equinox (Sept. 22), that mid-point is known as Lammas Day, which technically tracks to Aug. 6, but appears to normally be celebrated on Aug. 1 – which has the advantage of falling on Friday this year for a cheerier cookout.
