    The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a Director of Online Communications to lead, coordinate and help execute online communications, including the NWLC website, micro-sites, email communications and online marketing to raise visibility for NWLC and engage supporters to help improve policies that affect women and their families. This new position comes at a key moment for the organization, which will launch its new website in July and seeks to grow its online community and presence.

    The Director of Online Communications will bring a broad understanding of online communications, marketing and fundraising to advance the goals of the National Women’s Law Center. The Director is responsible for setting the organization’s overall online strategy, developing the email calendar, growing the number of online supporters and engaging them in advocacy, overseeing and executing the online fundraising strategy, directing website content, and monitoring online analytics. The Director also will have a “hands-on” role in many aspects of NWLC’s online work, such as writing emails, editing website content and handling technical aspects of NWLC’s online presence. The Director will supervise the Online Outreach Associate and will work closely with the Director of Outreach and the five-member Outreach team to develop and execute the online strategy. This position reports to the Vice President of Communications.
    The Director’s responsibilities include:
    • Directing the content and technical aspects of NWLC’s website, using Drupal.

    • Planning online communications with NWLC supporters such as newsletters and action alerts.
    • Overseeing growth of NWLC’s online community including on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

    • Directing online advertising, including Google adwords.

    • Developing and executing an online fundraising plan, in consultation with the Vice President of Development.

    • Developing and implementing best practices for NWLC’s online work.

    • Monitoring site traffic and email analytics.

    • Liaising with online vendors, including Convio, NWLC’s e-CRM.

    • Determining technical solutions to web development needs.

    • Supervising the Online Outreach Associate.

    • Working with the Vice President of Communications to ensure that online strategies integrate and support NWLC's overall communications strategies and are consistent with messaging and branding.

    • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Communications.


    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience in managing websites, online advocacy campaigns, marketing and/or fundraising, communications or related professional experience.
    • A proven track record of strategic thinking and creating new ways to campaign and communicate online.
    • Experience with e-CRMs (such as Convio, GetActive, or Democracy in Action).
    • Knowledge about production elements of the web such as HTML, Drupal (or similar CMSs), Raiser’s Edge (or similar databases), Photoshop, Google Analytics, Dreamweaver, and social networking tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
    • Experience with SEO.
    • A thoughtful, analytical approach to managing complex tasks.
    • The ability to work well with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and manage workflow processes involving multiple people.
    • Experience working both collaboratively and independently and the ability to make quick decisions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
    • A commitment to progressive women's issues.
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
