Washington, DC-based marketing and public relations agency Swanson Communications specializing in lifestyle, sports, entertainment and hospitality/events is currently accepting resumes for an open public relations/marketing coordinator position. Small business environment presents opportunities for long-term growth, and requires that individual interact with agency clients on a day-to-day basis.

Excellent understanding and execution of public relations writing assignments are necessary. Strong social media skills and the ability to strategically integrate the latest technologies into existing current agency practices are strongly preferred. Candidate should enjoy variety in assignments, be pro-active, have excellent time management and organization skills given fast-paced office environment. Prior experience coordinating multiple agency accounts is desired.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

-- 2-3 years of experience managing public relations campaigns from development to execution.

-- Strong media relations experience and existing relationships with national, top market and local contacts (lifestyle, sports, entertainment, and business) a major plus.

-- Expertise pitching/conducting media outreach and successes generating mainstream media hits.

-- Knowledge of emerging online and social media outlets and new areas for media placement (online, radio, tv, print); ability to create and maintain media lists (utilizing Cision/Bacon’s Media Source) and strong contacts.

-- Ability to manage social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and follow trends of new and emerging sites.

-- Experience planning/coordinating media events (press conferences, media tours, etc.) and managing on-site logistics.

-- Possess excellent writing and communications skills (press releases, email pitch letters, creative writing such as blogs, byline stories, copy for social media opportunities such as tweets, etc.)

-- Ability to identify news “hooks,” create unique newsworthy “angles” and positively sell “pitches and stories” to identified and targeted media campaign outlets.

-- Must be able to travel (to exciting cities and events)
