    TechAmerica, the largest U.S. high-tech trade association, is seeking a communications
    professional with superior writing skills, media relations experience and expertise in social
    media to join our team in Washington, DC as the communications assistant.

    This person will be an integral part of the marketing/communications team with a heavy focus on communication, press relations and increasing TechAmerica’s online presence. They
    must possess a keen interest in policy and politics and have an understanding of how to
    communicate inside and outside the Beltway. The selected candidate will possess initiative,
    foresight, be self-directed, believe in collaboration and require minimal day-to-day supervision.

    The Communications Assistant will:
    • Write effective and polished press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces and web
    content.
    • Respond rapidly and appropriately to media requests in an active press office
    environment.
    • Develop a vigorous online and social media program.
    • Work with TechAmerica offices around the U.S. and in Europe to strengthen our
    visibility.

    The position offers a high energy, fast paced work environment with motivated, talented staff
    and member company representatives who feel strongly about advancing the interests of the
    technology industry.

    Skill Requirements
    • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science,
    communications or marketing
    • Minimum Requirements: 2-4 years of media relations or public relations experience;
    campaign or hill experience desired
    • Expertise in social media
    • Media relations and event experience
    • Superior persuasive writing skills
    • Demonstrated experience in meeting deadlines under pressure and working well with
    peers and senior leaders
    • Must think creatively, work with accuracy, and demonstrate judgment and
    professionalism with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a knowledgeable,
    persuasive, and timely manner
    • Ideally – have multi-media skills such as ability to use video and audio to supplement
    online presence
