    TASCS is seeking an individual with experience in the public policy arena and a working knowledge of health care facilities and medical practices to serve as Executive Director. This position involves promoting the ASC industry to members, policymakers, other segments of the health care industry, and plan general public.

    Job Description
    • Work with the Board of Directors to oversee strategic
    • Develop new member benefits.
    • Handle the organization’s finances, which includes:
    o Bookkeeping through Quickbooks.
    o IRS and state filings.
    o Prepare budgets and quarterly financial reports.
    • Maintain membership renewals at 95 percent each year. This is accomplished by providing members with products that they find useful – such as government affairs, newsletters, and innovative conferences.
    • Meet non-members in order to educate them about TASCS; Travel around the state at least twice a month to meet with ASCs.
    • Produce a bi-monthly e-mail newsletter that provides unique analysis of public policy and industry events that impact ASCs. Many ASCs join solely for this information.
    • Keep the Web site updated and relevant.
    • Develop public relations campaigns to advertise the ASC industry to key stakeholders.
    • Meet with the Lobbyist on a weekly basis to review what issues are impacting ASCs and develop a plan for addressing them.
    • Oversee the Lobbyist and hold him/her responsible following through on legislative or regulatory initiatives.
    • Work with the Lobbyist to travel around the state to educate lawmakers about ASCs.
    • Oversee the legislative plan.
    • Advance TASCS legislative and regulatory initiatives – at least show progress.
    • Work with the Legislative committee at least once a month while the Legislature is out of session and at least once every two weeks while the Legislature is in session.
    • Coordinate annual trips to Washington, DC with the national association for ASCs to visit with lawmakers.
    • Coordinate Capitol visits in Austin when the Legislature meets.
    • Be prepared to testify on behalf of TASCS if a member is not available to do so at regulatory or legislative hearings.
    • Work with the Programs Committee to identify speakers and unique topics that cannot be found at other conferences.
    • Conferences typically consist of a November annual conference, an annual summit in the winter, and a possible summer meeting.
    • Contact and work with all speakers for conferences.
    • Obtain continuing education credits for attendees.
    • Oversee the administrative work that TASCS’s contractors perform for the conferences.
    • Work with sponsors and exhibitors to encourage them to participate.

    Professional Background
    The preferred candidate will have experience with:
    • Health care experience working in either the legislative or regulatory fields in Austin, Texas or Washington, DC. This can be either a government role or working for a trade association or a company’s public policy unit.
    • A working knowledge of the Texas health care environment. This includes having contacts with Texas ASCs, hospital systems, health care businesses, and physician leaders.
    • An understanding of how state and federal health care policy impacts the health care industry in Texas. This knowledge will be necessary to produce newsletters and analysis for members.
    • Strong writing ability.
    • Strong verbal skills will be necessary.
    • Knowledge of public policy campaigns and ability to promote an industry to key stakeholders.
    • The individual will be expected to be creative and a self-starter.
    • Must constantly be looking for new initiatives to enhance membership.

    The candidate is expected to reside in Austin, Texas. A small office space in Austin, Texas can be provided if necessary. Salary will be based upon experience and skill set.
