StreetWise transforms the lives of disadvantaged, low-income individuals by helping them realize their career potential. We do so by delivering high-impact professional development services and providing one-to-one career mentoring by volunteer professionals in corporate settings.
Leveraging the talent of our volunteer business professionals, StreetWise Partners offers free job skills training and career mentoring to low-income adults. Our mentors understand the importance of successful careers and provide career coaching, guidance and assistance through our structured Career Ventures program.
StreetWise Partners' deeply impactful and unique Career Ventures program includes three months of intensive instruction on resume and cover letter writing, networking, public speaking and presentation skills, computer skills, business and professional etiquette and more. Utilizing our Career Ventures Curriculum, volunteer business and their assigned trainees attend weekly 2-hour sessions for three months. In additional to building their skills and setting a sustainable career plan, trainees gain exposure to corporate environments through the generous support of our corporate partners. StreetWise Partners also offers one year of alumni services that include ongoing support from a mentor and opportunities to attend continuing professional development workshops.
Mentoring with StreetWise Partners is an excellent way to use your professional skills to guide highly-motivated individuals on a path to economic self-sufficiency. In addition to having a profound impact on the life of your trainee, volunteering with StreetWise Partners also provides community service and leadership experiences and professional networking and social events with a community of active professionals. The Career Ventures program is offered in the Spring and Fall and operates out of New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC.
