Happy Birthday, Mr. President

    A Center for Shared Services client is looking for a Press Secretary to manage and coordinate press, while also supporting the Communication Director. The Press Secretary will primarily manage outreach in the South West and West region, but will also support daily media outreach activities throughout the country as needed. In addition, the Press Secretary will perform other duties as assigned to help strengthen the organization’s efforts to advance economic freedom in the U.S. Hispanic community. The position is based in Washington, DC.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    · Draft and edit advisories, releases and editorials; pitch to the media and maintain updated contact lists for media outreach.

    · Work with Regional Directors to provide support to the regions and promote events and initiatives in the West and Southwest region as well as other parts of the country as needed.

    · Strengthen grassroots efforts in the region and other areas as identified, using traditional media and new media.

    · Provide support to the Communications Director on developing marketing materials.

    · Work with the Communications Director on messaging for local markets to support Regional Directors.

    · Serve as liaison with all employees involved in communication projects and the Communications Director.

    Qualifications:

    · An associate’s or bachelor's degree, or similar combination of education and experience in communications, political science or economics, is preferred

    · Three to five years of experience in communications working with new media, grassroots campaigns, and messaging

    · Prior experience is preferable with audio and video editing software, graphics software such as Publisher Pro, as well as marketing distribution programs like Exact Target.

    · Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral

    · Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred

    · Candidate should be able to work flexible hours to support events and be able to travel up to 50% of the time

    · Possesses a friendly, professional demeanor, positive presence, and is comfortable being interviewed on camera

    · Previous communications project management experience and attention to detail a must

    · Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while integrating a high degree of attention to detail and organization
