Rep. Joe Courtney - Communications Director
ReplyDeleteU.S. Representative Joe Courtney (D-CT-2) seeks experienced and energetic Communications Director to handle press and communications operations. Candidates must possess pro-active energy and initiative to earn media coverage, impeccable writing and organizational skills, strong political judgment, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and a talent for converting complicated, technical policy issues into every day, understandable language. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing a strategic communications plan; drafting press releases, talking points, op-eds, and speeches; cultivating reporter relationships; serving as primary spokesperson for local and national media; identifying new press opportunities; shaping and planning media events, and managing congressional website, social media, and weekly electronic newsletter. A strong candidate will embrace the joy of earning local media as much as generating national coverage.
The typical candidate will have previous press experience on Capitol Hill, at least 3-4 years’ experience in media relations and extensive media contacts and social media expertise. Ties to New England/Northeast and familiarity with regional politics considered a plus. Prior on-the-record experience required. This is not an entry level position. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Please e-mail resumes with three relevant writing samples to CT02JOB@mail.house.gov.
