  1. Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers - Assistant Editor

Looking for a hands-on editorial position where you can make your mark on award-winning publications? The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc., one of the largest small business associations in the country, is looking for a motivated Assistant Editor to be an integral part of our editorial team that currently produces a monthly print magazine, e-mail newsletter, websites, and social media content. We’re currently in the process of redesigning of all of our outlets and plan to relaunch all of our editorial products—and add a tablet app to the mix—in January 2014.

We’re looking for someone who can offer important input in the redesign while keeping our current offerings on track. If you have 1-3 years of editorial experience and want to develop and package high-value content for a niche business audience, this is the job for you.

Duties include story generation, writing/reporting, substantive and copy editing, interpreting website analytics and more. We want a quick study who can learn to think like our readers---and deliver the information they need to run a better business. Strong reporting, writing and editing skills and command of AP style a must. Excellent organizational and analytical skills with unwavering attention to detail required. Must be able to juggle multiple deadlines and work independently. Undergraduate degree in journalism and business or association writing/editing experience preferred. Familiarity with legislative process a plus.

Please send resume, cover letter and at least three writing/editing clips in one PDF to Katie Butler, vice president of Communications, at katie.butler@iiaba.net. No phone calls, please.
