    Goal: Engage media to raise visibility of ACORE and associated renewable energy thought leaders.

    Actively pitch interviews, briefings and op-eds to leading media. Develop and maintain relationships with key media covering the renewable energy space.

    Work on Communications team; Report to Communications Director

    Responsibilities:

    Thought leadership promotion: Pitch opportunities for bylined articles and op-eds for the ACORE CEO,

    Board members, US PREF and Leadership Council members, and Principals Group members; work with potential signers to draft and place pieces. Build, manage and promote a Speakers Bureau to the media.

    Media outreach and relationship building: Work with the Communications Director to identify top-tier media targets and pitch and manage briefings with the CEO, ACORE policy staff, Board members, US PREF and Leadership Council members, and Principals Group members to raise the profile of ACORE as a leading voice for the business of renewable energy amongst the media. Proactively promote ACORE’s EnergyFactCheck by engaging on a regular basis with key media.

    News pitching: Pitch local and national media for new Featured Fact Checks, new ACORE reports and white papers, ACORE's events, as well as writing 1-2 news releases per month to national and trade media.

    Qualifications:

    5-7 years media relations, Hill, or communications experience. Clear understanding of what makes news and what is involved in media relations.

    Excellent writing and research skills.

    Experience working with high-profile people. Diplomacy and tact, combined with a results-oriented style.

    Comfortable working under pressure of news-cycle deadlines and on multiple projects at the same time.

    Fluency with web platforms, blogging, and social media—particularly Twitter. Knowledge of media tracking software and metrics.

    Desired: Knowledge of the renewable energy industry.
