    SENIOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT

    Another Option’s strategic communication practice is growing; great news but we need some help. This rapid start-up of several strategic communication activities in int'l markets requires additional strategic thinkers and good managers (time, client, & resources) in communication, PR, & social media related to health/education issues.

    Activities range from day-to-day program operations to contract implementation to strategic thinking. Experienced, professional, and innovative program experts that can both support and do the day-to-day management of an account are encouraged to apply. It is a mix of technical, creative, and problem-solving and the operations that keep us grounded and realistic.

    Description – Initially not a full-time job – it could grow to full-time but for now about 80%. Telecommuting welcomed; weekly meetings in person or on skype or google chat. We are in DC area; that doesn’t mean you have to be, so let’s talk. Salary commiserate with pay and work history.

    Responsibilities
    • Contribute to the strategic planning for communication related to several international donor programs
    • Day-to-day management of activities working closely with technical experts to assure timeliness, results, and accuracy (all about quality control)
    • Write and edit range of documents including status reports, blogs, print materials, web content
    • Manage operations for vendors includes procurement and compliance
    • Conduct desk audits and research of issues relevant to the client’s needs or interests
    • New business development

    Skills
    • Experience in strategic communication planning and implementation
    • Familiar with donor organizations goals and objectives
    • Experience in procurement and operations procedures
    • Strong writer and editor for traditional and social media
    • Experience in managing social media accounts
    • Familiar with international donors (USAID, The World Bank, UN Agencies) and foundations
    • Ability to travel
    • 5 years of experience in program management or support to senior or executive level professional
    • Foreign language a plus

    SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

    Another Option has several clients that have embraced social media as part of their communication plan. To support social media & not have it get lost in the more traditional communication activities we are establishing a social media practice. This new practice – and staff - will combine a mix of technical skills and creative invention for effective communication.

    • Create and maintain social media accounts for clients including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Blogs and web content.
    • Strategic ideas for pushing the web site and social media push
    • Monitor other sites for coverage on the topic and areas of focus, including comments & social media
    • Identify social media opportunities
    • Familiar with international issues and cultural sensitivity
    • Blogging and tweeting and instagram (including videos)
    • French a positive (not mandatory, but would be a plus)
    • Good writer and editor
