Fund for the Republic - Intern
ReplyDeleteFund for the Republic (FFR) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that broadens, strengthens and unites efforts to reduce the influence of money and special interests over politics and policy making. We aim for success by supporting strategic opportunities, catalyzing new initiatives and recruiting more philanthropists, influential leaders and advocates to the cause of reform. For more information, visit our website at www.fundfortherepublic.org.
FFR is searching for an intern interested in fundraising and non-profit development who can jump right into our fast-paced and stimulating office culture to help us in our mission to make our government one that is truly ‘of, by and for the people.’
We strive to ensure our interns are integral members of the team. Successful applicants will learn essential skills and play an important role as they help FFR development staff build and maintain its prospect and donor databases, identify funding opportunities, prepare proposals, and assist the development team with other activities as needed. Fundraising interns will report to the Development Manager.
As an FFR intern, you will:
- Gain substantial experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Learn new research and development skills, including database management, prospect outreach, and become proficient in “resume builder” skills like Neon CRM, MailChimp, WealthEngine, and Excel
- Assist with management and improvement of all elements of a growing fundraising pipeline
- Improve your writing and editing skills by assisting with grant proposals and reports.
- Plan and execute events, including our spring conference; you’ll assist in everything from managing the budget to taste-testing menu items and selecting our keynote speaker.
- Help build our office culture: you’ll be coming in on the ground floor of our operation, so your input will have an impact on the way we do business for years to come!
- Do much more than what’s listed here – you’ll work closely with our Development team and senior staff.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn new programs quickly (databases, etc.)
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong organizational abilities
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (fax, photocopier, etc.)
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Creativity and ability to think outside the box
- Interest in a nonprofit career - particularly development and fundraising
Each intern will be expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, in our Washington DC office. This position is available immediately, though selected applicant/s can work with us to choose a start date. The internship will last until mid-April.
Compensation
This internship includes a modest stipend. We encourage you to use this internship to gain course credit and to seek out "work-study" grants with your college, if that is an option.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. To apply, please send a cover letter including 3 references and a one-page resume to laurie@fundfortherepublic.org.
