    Political Outreach Intern

    The American Association for Justice's Political Outreach Department is seeking a part-time voluntary intern for Fall '14.     Communications & Social Media Internship

    National professional membership association seeks intern to support external communications and social media activities. These activities include connecting to target audiences, media, peer organizations, and the general public, as well as supporting online communications, press relations, and public events.

    This is a substantive internship perfect for a graduate student or individual with comparable experience seeking course credit or a capstone project. This internship will provide an inside perspective to the federal government as well as non-profit communications operations, project management, and outreach campaigns.

    Duties of the internship will include, but are not limited to:

    • Work to build the Association’s online presence through social media outlets, including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn;

    • Build and maintain unique content for website and social media platforms;

    • Research and incorporate best practices for outreach campaigns;

    • Assist with the development and execution of online campaigns;

    • Develop new media for the dissemination on online networks;

    • Prepare visual and print media for distribution and promotional use;

    profit membership operations, program development, project management, and outreach campaigns.

    Duties of the internship will include, but are not limited to:

    • Creation of outreach plan to engage potential members and stakeholders and leverage current membership;

    • Compilation of lists of potential members and stakeholder organizations;

    • Organize potential member events, including contacting Federal agencies;

    • Identify target sectors for outreach, research target sectors to determine relevant benefits, and generate campaigns to new sectors;

    • Analyze membership surveys, produce membership reports, collect data for tracking;

    • Track member offerings and compare to comparable associations; work with Association President to develop new member benefits as needed.

    Candidate must have excellent writing and internet research skills, be energetic, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing and managing various projects simultaneously. Knowledge of the federal civil service community helpful.
