    With more than four decades of experience, the Guttmacher Institute is a global leader in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights through an interrelated program of research, policy analysis and public education designed to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate and promote sound policy and program development. The Institute’s overarching goal is to ensure the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health for all people worldwide.

    Position Summary:

    The Senior Public Policy Associate will lead an expansion of the work of the Institute using evidence and analysis to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at the global level. Working closely with the policy team as well as with our research staff and coalition partners in the United States and around the world, the Senior Public Policy Associate will be engaged in SRHR advocacy at the global level and here in the United States, through education and advocacy aimed at Congress and the administration regarding U.S. foreign policy.

    Responsibilities:

    • Representing Guttmacher in advocacy and outreach activities with United Nations (UN) agencies, Congress, relevant government agencies, key coalition partners and other organizations in the United States and globally;

    • Preparing written materials for a wide range of audiences and purposes, including policy analyses and regular contributions to the Guttmacher Policy Review;

    • Monitoring and analyzing policy issues and related developments around a portfolio of global SRHR issues; and

    • Working with Guttmacher staff in developing, conducting, publishing and communicating policy-relevant research.

    Qualifications:

    • Advanced degree in law, public health or public policy required.

    • A minimum of five years work experience in fields broadly related to the Guttmacher Institute’s mission;

    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; experience in or familiarity with UN and other global processes relating to SRHR;

    • Background in policy analysis and issue advocacy; and demonstrated ability to translate research into compelling and persuasive, issue-oriented information and educational materials.

    • Ability to travel, including internationally.
