National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials - Interns
ReplyDeleteThe National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund's Policy, Research and Advocacy branch is looking for college students or recent grads interested in learning about policy-making, government affairs and the Latino community for the spring semester. This internship is based in our Washington, DC, office. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that focuses on immigration, voting rights, naturalization, the Census, and judicial appointments.
This position entails helping with various long-term research projects, written materials (one pagers, infographics, tables, and charts, formal letters), and presentations for the Congress on the above-mentioned issues, with a current priority on immigration reform and voting rights. Additionally, the intern will be expected to help with administrative tasks such as answering phones, delivering documents to the Hill, drafting mass emails and preparing hand-outs for events (though this would be only about 30 percent of the intern responsibilities). While the position is unpaid, we are committed to exposing our interns to substantial work and the professional offerings of the city, such as specialized briefings, networking events and panel discussions.
This opportunity is best suited for a college or graduate student who has strong internet research and writing skills. Familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint will be very helpful. Campaign or legislative experience is also a plus, but not a requisite. We are a small and cordial office, so a sense of humor and “can do” attitude will go a long way.
