The position will be responsible for managing social media and online communications and ensuring that NARUC presents a high-level digital experience to its members and online users. The position requires strategic solutions and creative approaches to bring content to online users. The individual in this position is expected to possess superior communications skills and work effectively under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Director of Communications
Required Abilities and Key Attributes
• Experience using content management systems.
• Knowledge of leading social media applications and strategies
• Knowledge of and experience using online measurement tools
• Understanding of print and digital design standards and principles.
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple deadlines
• Strong writing and editing skills, especially as applicable to content development for digital platforms
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to manage projects with moderate supervision.
• Self-motivated and able to communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Education and Experience
• Five years of web and social media communications experience, particularly in the context of Associations, non-profit advocacy, social media campaigns, and public relations.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
• Experience in energy and/or telecom industries a plus
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitor and update website content and assist internal divisions improve their online presence as necessary
• Work with the Director of Communications to develop long-term social media goals
• Executes online publishing strategies for both Website and social media (Twitter, Facebook, blogging); explores new online venues for NARUC
• Assist in transmitting and formatting biweekly newsletter electronically
• Assist in disseminating press clips (through a media monitoring service)
• Ensure that online subscriptions are up to date
• Manage and maintain photo and multimedia libraries
• Update staff photos and manage multimedia content
• Participate and lead web content updates with key staff
• Work with Director of Communications and Executive Director of Meetings to promote meetings through blast e-mails, social media, other online venues
• Help manage Meetings web pages
• Help manage media/promotional partnerships for meetings promotion
• Maintain database content and manage listservs
• Provide web support to NARUC affiliates and members as needed.
• Monitor blogs and social media outlets for NARUC-related news and identify opportunities for NARUC to be seen as a legitimate, independent news source
• Measure effectiveness of online strategies and provide monthly analytics
• Other duties as assigned
