    The National Urban League's Washington Bureau is seeking an unpaid communications intern to start mid/late September. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and External Affairs, the Communications Intern will:

    --Help develop and message NULWB’s policy products, issue campaigns, events, and other work to the media and public
    --Compile daily news clips
    --Draft social media content
    --Write and pitch press releases, statements, advisories, op-eds, and blog posts
    --Pitch select NUL and NULWB staff as media spokespeople on key issues
    --Help maintain NULWB social media accounts
    --Work with policy team to coordinate content
    --Help drive the growth of NULWB’s digital media presence
    --Participate in the planning and implementation of media strategy around issues, campaigns and events
    --Develop and maintain databases of press contacts
    --Other duties as assigned

    Requirements and qualifications:

    --College student, graduate student or Bachelor’s degree
    --Some experience in communications or journalism, such as experience pitching media outlets
    --Passion for civil rights and economic justice
    --Interest or experience in politics or congress
    --Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills
    --Strong organizational skills and attention to details
    --Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    --Ability to quickly and accurately absorb key policy issues
    --Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
    --Ability to work as part of a team or individually
