    The National Down Syndrome Society is seeking a Guidance Assistant for an individual with Down syndrome who recently joined our full-time staff in our Washington, D.C. office.

    As a Guidance Assistant, you will be responsible for meeting the self-advocate at 4:45 PM EST (end of work day) and assisting the self-advocate to her temporary residence located on Capitol Hill. In this role, you will be expected to guide the self-advocate as she become acclimated to her surroundings and gains a level of comfort during her transition period.

    The Guidance Assistant will also be expected to assist the self-advocate with the following:

    · Preparation of meals at her residence;
    · Daily household tasks;
    · Preparation of work duties and/or meals for following day;
    · Be ready for quick changes in schedule.

    The hours of this position are 4:45 PM EST to 8 PM EST. After the first 3 weeks of the position, the Guidance Assistant will scale back their hours to 4:45 PM EST – 6:30 PM EST.

    This position pays $20-25 per hour (wage negotiable).
