You May Owe Us More than Usual This Time Around

Wednesday update: As you may have guessed, whatever crud we have going on did get worse (So much phlegm! Ugh!).  We hope to get a new set published at some point on Thursday (certainly not at the usual 9:30 am posting time), but who knows?  We hope you're healthier wherever you are.

This intern will The intern will have an opportunity to learn how to generate awareness and educate audiences about the FNIH's extensive roster of biomedical research and training initiatives by providing hands-on administrative and program support to the Communications Team.   2. Collaborative Communications Group - Senior Associate

    We’re looking for a highly-motivated self-starter for this mid-level position. The Senior Associate will work with the Collaborative media, engagement, and digital teams to lead strategic content creation across platforms. This position requires communications strategy and project management experience as well as a strong understanding of public relations best practices.

    Full-time position; based in Washington, DC office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    The Senior Associate will:
    • Serve as an integral member of the digital and media services team;
    • Develop strategy for and manage day-to-day operations of digital and media projects to best support our individual clients’ needs;
    • Act as the primary client contact to foster strong relationships and better understand and meet their day-to-day needs;
    • Coordinate internal and external teams to make sure the work gets done, from developing work plans to coordinating graphic and web design to scheduling and leading check ins;
    • Actively engage in in-person kick-off meetings, client brainstorming sessions, spokesperson trainings, messaging workshops and strategy meetings;
    • Be responsible for developing communications, public relations and social media strategies and content that enhance clients’ vital missions. Content may include:
    o Social media plans, editorial calendars, and posts
    o E-mail marketing, blog posts, website copy, and other digital content
    o Press releases, media advisories, statements, and other traditional communications
    o Opinion essays and commentaries for education and mainstream media
    • Conduct daily general and issue/client-specific monitoring of education trade, mainstream media outlets and relevant social media for K-12 education news and disseminate relevant findings to colleagues and clients as appropriate;
    • Help to develop the Collaborative brand and expand the organization’s footprint across the sector.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    The ideal candidate for this position will have:
    • 4-6 years of communications and public relations experience, with some experience at a consulting firm preferred;
    • At least 3 years of project management experience;
    • At least 3 years of experience leading content development across digital media, including blog writing, e-newsletters, e-mail marketing, social media, etc.;
    • Broad writing and editing experience across a variety of external mediums, including the digital media mentioned above as well as traditional publications, such as commentaries, reports, one-pagers, etc.;
    • Ability to both develop and implement digital and social media strategies across Facebook, Twitter, etc.;
    • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with external partners at the highest levels of business, government, and the education and social sectors;
    • A can-do attitude, with the drive to get the work done alongside the team, no matter how large or small the task;
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required; Master’s degree preferred but not required;
    • Commitment to and strong understanding of K-12 education issues; and
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
    Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Senior Associate will work across teams and report to the firm’s leadership. This full-time position is based in Washington, DC, and is Metro accessible. Collaborative offers excellent benefits.
