    Reproductive Freedom for All is a grassroots campaign of individuals and organizations committed to ensuring that every person in Michigan has the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which involves the right to make and carry out decisions without political interference about all matters relating to pregnancy, including birth control, abortion, prenatal care, and childbirth.

    The Reproductive Freedom for All ballot committee seeks to qualify a constitutional amendment
    designed to safeguard the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, including the right to
    make decisions related to pregnancy and childbirth without interference. Specifically, this
    measure will ensure that all Michiganders have the right to safe and respectful care during
    birthing, everyone has the right to use temporary or permanent birth control, everyone has the right to continue or end a pregnancy, and no one can be punished for having a miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.

    RFFA is searching for an experienced, detail-oriented & enthusiastic
    Communications Director to lead a broad portfolio of communications work for the 2022
    election cycle in one of the country’s most exciting Ballot Initiative elections. This position will start ASAP and will continue to Nov. 15, 2022. Position is based in Michigan and reports to the Campaign Manager.

    Responsibilities:
    ● Develop and implement an aggressive communications strategy for the campaign, driving
    earned media coverage and emphasizing message continuity across all communications
    platforms.
    ● Develop and maintain extremely strong relationships with the Michigan and National
    press corps and serve as an on-the-record spokesperson for the campaign.
    ● Lead all preparation work with the Coalition for media opportunities and interviews.
    ● Oversee all media requests, press releases, op-eds, public statements, speeches,
    talking points, presentations, media advisories, and proactive story pitches.
    ● Drive daily messaging through earned media and social media, including a robust
    calendar of earned media events.
    ● Maintain a nimble rapid response program.
    ● Frequently communicate updates, ideas, and progress on long-term communications
    goals to senior staff, consultants, and the Coalition Partners.
    ● Coordinate with state-based and national organizations who are part of the campaign on
    earned and social media work.

    Qualifications:
    ● Self-starter with a robust work ethic who is willing to work occasional weekends and
    evenings in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with a high level of attention to
    detail.
    ● Strong writer who can clearly communicate complex ideas in written form.
    ● Confident verbal communicator who can clearly communicate up and down
    organizational hierarchy, and externally to reporters and other stakeholders.
    ● At least four years or two election cycles’ worth of experience working in political
    communications.
    ● On-the-record experience with print, radio, and TV news reporters.
    ● Ties to Michigan or knowledge of the Michigan press corps strongly preferred but not
    required.

    This is a full-time position and will at times require weekend and evening work, both remote and in person work, and when national health conditions allow, you may be expected to travel to support the campaign’s activities.

    Salary range for this position is $9,000 per month, commensurate with experience, and
    includes a $1,000 per month healthcare stipend as well as a $100 per month cell phone stipend.

    Senior Account Executive

    A full-time Senior Account Executive will support a multi-faceted communications account and act as the task lead on a range of health-focused communications campaigns and materials. The position will support the Project Director by implementing communications strategies, developing materials, and providing and presenting recommendations to the client. The position will have a focus on audience engagement, cultural responsiveness, and clear calls to action. The position will assist in managing project work plans and reporting, as well as ensure client deliverables are kept on time, of high quality and within budget. Other client work may include developing executive communications materials, providing digital strategy counsel, and/or co-leading various communications planning efforts. This opportunity will provide the ability to expand knowledge of the many facets of strategy and content development with nonprofit and government clients whose missions align with social change. The position will allow an individual to gain experience in client management, budgeting, team management and problem solving while building and managing communications projects that have a far-reaching impact on the DC community.

    Other client work may include providing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) communications counsel, communications strategic counsel; creating dynamic, creating well-written media materials; providing media/digital strategy counsel; and/or co-leading various communications planning efforts.


    Requirements/Qualifications

    Developing communications materials, including web content outreach products, social media content and print materials.
    Ability to write for various stakeholders.
    Coordinating the development of communications materials in close partnership with graphic designers.
    Juggling competing demands and shifting priorities in a calm and productive manner.
    Meeting client needs and deliverables in a timely manner and being responsive to requests from the client.
    Understanding of strategic communications planning.
    Writing and editing materials for a fifth to sixth grade reading level.
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field.
    Previous experience in Medicaid, or knowledge of Medicaid is preferred.
    We strongly desire the candidate to reside in the Washington, D.C., area.
    Minimum of five years of experience in the public relations/communications field.

    Salary and Benefits

    Salary range is $65,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
