So You Want to be a Pro Consul?

We're back after a blazy (busy yet lazy) week of non-posting for one last July edition. We're intrigued, of course, by the glamorous-sounding, Roman-Empire-vibe Pro Consul job title offered by our friends at the British Embassy noted below, a job whose main responsibilities are to:

Provide administrative and consular assistance to British nationals in accordance with current guidelines, within the geographical area of District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware. This may include speaking with/visiting British nationals in jail/hospital, providing advice and assistance to victims of crime, homeless persons, those suffering from mental health issues.  There will also be an element of administrative support such as printing out Emergency Travel Documents, co-ordinating Citizenship Ceremonies and processing Prison Payments.

So, a little less grand than the ancient version, but such a great title on your business card. And, all kidding aside, we think it would be super-interesting & rewarding to be part consular work that delivers high quality, professional, empathetic services to British nationals who need a helping hand when stateside. We say go for it!
