Six Figures (well, almost)

The anti-poverty crusaders at CARE have a fresh call for a Director of Government Relations with 10+ years substantial legislative/Congressional experience to lead their GR operation. They also seek a Program Officer to handle a range of duties including research, communications, budget monitoring and some administrative support. If previous links give you trouble, you can also search here under US-located jobs, where you’ll also find admin and development jobs in New York and elsewhere.

$55k-$79k: that’s the fare you’ll collect as Legislative Assistant with the Railroad Retirement Board. Job ID: 09-DEU-06 – final boarding call for resumes: Aug. 3.

Here's one that would have been kind of a good fit in yesterday’s Defense & Aerospace Jobs Special: Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Senior Program Analyst (search job # 01075777) with Navy or DoD experience, with a background that includes BRAC-related work.

Applied Materials seeks Government Affairs Manager (search corporate affairs category of job or job # 0900784) with 3-5 years mid-level Capitol Hill experience with direct responsibility for energy and environment issues. Directly related private-sector experience representing the clean-tech industry or other high technology company/trade association would be a big plus.

French-owned energy, materials and real estate conglomerate Louis Dreyfus Corp. seeks a highly-experienced Government Relations Assistant for a multitude of admin activities and responsibilities, including PAC-management duties.

An otherwise well-known Fortune 100 company wishes to remain anonymous while they search for a Bilingual Public Relations Representative to create a strategic comprehensive Spanish Media PR program.

Gallup
is looking for passionate, creative, smart, and dedicated professionals to join their – whew, let us catch our breath, ok – dynamic team in DC. Specific to your interests: their search for a Government Social Marketing & Communications Specialist (search DC location or job # 00957) with 6+ years of experience with communication and marketing projects for government, non-profit, and for-profit clients in health, mental health, and related fields. Other DC admin, business development, account management, and research-oriented positions available.

The US Postal Service would like to hire a Public Relations Representative (search DC location and public affairs/communications category) to serve as a spokesperson and work with the news media. Pay band is a pretty broad $59k-$102k, apply by July 27. Note: the postal service careers page is a little clunky and cranky (at least on my clunky and cranky old Dell), so you can also take a quick look at this Monster link, instead.

Currently available positions with the Society for Neuroscience:
The National Association of Children's Hospitals has a slot waiting for an Associate, Legislative Advocacy with a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in political organizing, community organizing or grassroots/grasstops program development.

Manager of Marketing and Communications for the City of Portsmouth, Va. sounds like a nice challenge – they’re looking for an excellent communicator, effective decision maker, creative thinker, and change-agent for the promotion, marketing and communications needs of their fair town. Salary is a pretty specific-sounding $51,166, apply by July 31.

Dreaming of that six-figure salary? Unfortunately, the AFL-CIO Center for Green Jobs can only spare $99,529.72 for their (new?) Senior Clean Energy Policy Analyst position. If you’re still interested, the job entails research and analysis of federal, state and local programs, on green jobs, economic and workforce development programs, and a host of related issues.

Staying on the labor beat – the United Food and Commercial Workers is seeking a Senior Research Associate with expertise and experience in food and agriculture policy. Law degree, Masters or PhD with at least 3-5 years of related experience is desired.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore has a desk awaiting a Specialist, Public Relations to assist schools and programs in media relations and institutional communications, serve as a front-line spokesperson, and help identify and execute media outreach and placement opportunities. We assume the July 24 filing deadline means apply by July 24.

The Association for Public Television Stations wants resumes for their Grant Coordinator position by July 28. Duties include locating potential sources of funding and helping member stations take advantage of your research. No deadline is referenced for their fall Intern opportunities, so in absence of any guidance, we suggest you get your application in like, now.

Wednesday's job searcher's toolkit brings you an in-the-news two-fer: per yesterday's announcement that political fixture Roll Call (founded 1955) is purchasing it's even-more-established cousin, Congressional Quarterly (1945), we think it's an apt time to revisit the excellent and useful job boards of Roll Call and good old CQ.
