SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

The Glover Park Group (GPG), a leading public affairs consulting firm, is seeking an innovative and
experienced social media expert to join the firm’s Public Affairs practice. This position is based in
our Washington, D.C. headquarters.

The Social Media Manager will develop and implement social media strategies for a wide range of
clients with a focus on designing strategies for online community engagement and helping manage
integrated digital campaigns. The position coordinates across divisions and teams to support their
respective accounts, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a social media referral network.
Specific responsibilities include:

Offering strategic guidance for clients ranging from Fortune 10 corporations to advocacy
groups on how to enhance their brand or advance their issue online
Day-to-day management of the division’s largest social media accounts including:
o Client engagement
o Creating, executing and optimizing an online campaign plan
o Identifying threats and opportunities for clients, and developing appropriate
responses for both
o Community management
o Online monitoring and measurement
Provide regular counsel to client teams who are directly managing smaller social media
campaigns
Working with other divisions on integrated accounts that include multiple platforms (website,
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc), online advertising and list building.
Design and execute social media trainings for clients
Overseeing an internal education process including:
o Keeping up-to-date on industry best practices and tools
o Managing a program to raise division wide proficiency in social media with trainings,
guest brownbags, and emails/webinars
Developing marketing materials for GPG’s digital capabilities
Manage a Blogger outreach program
Staying abreast of innovations in the space including new ideas for campaigns and evolving
technologies.

Strong project management or organizational skills
In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective
participants (Facebook, Digg, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) and how they can be deployed in
different scenarios
Knowledge of or ability to map blogging ecosystems relevant to the client needs

Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and
build and maintain relationships
Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when
necessary
Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
Have a good knowledge of principles of SEO
Understanding 'cross domain' applications and how they work. (i.e. Facebook Apps, Twitter
Apps)
Basic working knowledge of the Facebook Social Graph
Familiarity with APIs
2-4 Years of digital marketing experience and social media experience with hands on
experience in campaign development and design.
