Edelman is weird. At least the Silicon Valley office is. A job might claim to be "senior" but require only 3-4 years experience. Indeed, if you apply with many more years of related experience, you might be told you're overqualified and should wait for "vice president" jobs to open there. So senior status is very relative at Edelman, which might follow the typical PR firm model of San Fran: A small staff of mid-career types manages a large cadre of interns who periodically get hired for junior positions. Every now and then, this model fails due to lack of over-bright interns, and the firms hire more seasoned pro's.
