Curious on Gordon's thoughts: My understanding with government jobs is that when the application period is less than 2 weeks between job posting/closing, it means someone has already been identified for the position. So I imagine this applies to the posted Public Affairs Specialist position with the Census. If I'm misinfored, please correct me!

Ed's answer tends to soften, but not completely allay, my suspicions on this issue; and that's all I have on it. I'd certainly welcome any perspectives from any well-informed DCPA+CJ viewers.
