The Hatcher Group - New Media Associate

The Hatcher Group is looking for a new media associate to support a variety of online initiatives, primarily website development and design for organizations working on progressive issues, including education reform, poverty and the environment, among others. The ideal candidate is experienced in designing and developing engaging and dynamic WordPress websites, understands the major social media platforms and how to use them to meet client objectives, and is knowledgeable about key blogs covering progressive issues. The candidate should also be a self-starter and team player with good people skills and a strong work ethic. The candidate should also be able to work on a schedule to meet tight deadlines and have an interest in progressive policy issues.

Other tasks may include: designing effective e-newsletters, writing website and other online copy, managing and interpreting online metrics, managing online advertising campaigns, running webinars, creating and editing video and audio, pitching bloggers and online media, advising clients on use of new media, and researching new media tools and trends.

Job Duties
• Design websites to reflect clients’ projects, distinct personalities, interests and content
• Evaluate and advise clients on use of online media to advance objectives
• Create and manage social media profiles for clients, including customizing pages, posting updates, growing users, and responding to fans/followers
• Set up and manage Facebook and Google advertising campaigns
• Track web traffic and social media community growth and prepare reports
• Stay current on innovative trends and opportunities in these areas

Desired Skills
• Experience with WordPress development
• Thorough knowledge of website development, architecture, and navigation protocols
• Thorough knowledge of HTML, CSS; competence in PHP
• Experience in online graphic design, including Photoshop, preferred
• Excellent writing, editing and research skills
• Proven interest and abilities in new media and social media trends and tools
• Experience with video editing and production preferred
• Demonstrated interest in progressive issue advocacy
• Experience running webinars
• Self-directed learner, curious, and highly developed sense of humor!

Required
• Bachelor's degree. Minimum two years of relevant experience preferred.
