We’re largely moderate; fiscally responsible and socially tolerant. We want to see progress addressing America’s challenges, not gridlock. And we’re powerful if we stand together—we’re the swing vote. Representing more than 40% of the American electorate, we can change America if we stand together, vote together, and speak with one voice. At The Common Sense Coalition, we're fighting for the Americans in the middle--and we're looking for a Communications Director to shape and promote this message.
The ideal candidate should be entrepreneurial and aggressive in generating ideas that yield media coverage, promoting the Common Sense Coalition’s agenda through traditional and social media, and our national profile. The Communications Director will be responsible for all facets of daily press operation: media strategy development and implementation, serving as primary spokesperson for national and local media, coordinating press conferences, pitching story ideas, legislative action and events, and drafting policy, statements, releases, speeches, and op-eds.
Job Requirements
Candidates of all parties encouraged to apply. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have media contacts and a background working with both print and electronic media. The Communications Director must also seek innovative ways to increase the Common Sense Coalition’s visibility, including expanding the use of our website, and other on-line resources as well as developing/maintaining effective relationships with national and local media.
