    Washington, DC (near Capitol South Metro)

    The Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) is non-profit organization dedicated to providing supportive services to members of the military community through financial grants, PTSD advocacy and outreach and recreational therapy programs. Our programs include Troops to the Track, with our partner NASCAR, hospital dinners at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Operation Caring Classroom, holiday toy drives and Salute Our Troops in partnership with the Las Vegas Sands Corp.

    We are seeking an intern to support our Director of Public Affairs and our Chief of Staff in their day-to-day tasks. Ideally,
    we are looking for full-time candidates but will consider skilled part-time applicants. Opening is immediate.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    -- Assist in developing and managing all press and marketing materials, including press releases, information
    sheets, brochures and a daily media summary;
    -- Assist in managing the foundation’s website and external communications;
    -- Assist with social media outreach
    -- Assist in the development of media campaigns and press plans
    -- Provide administrative support as needed
    -- Other tasks as assigned

    Requirements:
    -- Completed or in-progress Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations;
    -- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in field;
    -- Keen interest in the well-being of our troops and demonstrated commitment to public service
    -- Must be resourceful, reliable, honest, efficient, thorough and dedicated
    -- Knowledge of military issues, including mission, structure, culture and lifestyle preferred

    Interns have regularly been given charge of their own tasks. We are looking for someone who is confident and well spoken, and who can represent the Foundation to outside/interested parties. We are located one block from the Capitol South Metro.

    How to Apply:
    Please send a resume, cover letter and short writing sample to info@armedforcesfoundation.org. Please put “Public Affairs Internship” and the number of hours you are able to work in the subject line. We are ready to fill the position immediately and will do so if we find a suitable candidate.
