A financial services trade association based in Alexandria, Virginia is looking for a Policy Director.
General Responsibilities:
--Play vital role as in-house policy director on financial services issues and policies affecting the association and its membership
--Uphold positive image of association and maintain relationships with member companies, government officials, third parties, and other industry stakeholders
Daily activities:
--Develop policy recommendations for the association to be submitted to the association CEO or COO
--Analyze federal legislative and agency actions to assess any potential impact on the financial services industry
--Work with the legal and federal regulatory team to develop and implement major strategic policy initiatives
--Oversee correspondence with members of Congress and federal agencies regarding legislative and regulatory matters
--Monitor federal agency activities including hearings, policy statements, and rule-making (at CFPB and other agencies)
--Evaluate and assess Capitol Hill developments, including tracking federal legislation, congressional hearings, and other activities of interest to association
--Manage research projects, directed assignments, and other tasks as needed by legal/regulatory team
--Coordinate association’s political action committee efforts
Coordinate efforts between the legal and regulatory team and the public affairs and communications office
Necessary Background:
--At least four years’ experience on Capitol Hill working on financial services issues, more particularly related to consumer finance and/consumer issues with federal agencies such as the FTC, OCC, FDIC or the CFPB
--Familiarity with bank and nonbank/non-depository institutions and their role in consumer financial marketplace
Salary commensurate with experience.
