    The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) is a not-for-profit organization that for more than 20 years has been a mainstay of service, commitment and collaboration within the insured retirement industry and is considered to be the authoritative source of all things pertaining to annuities, insured retirement strategies and retirement planning.

    Primary Responsibilities
    -- Reports to the Senior Vice President & General Counsel
    -- Collaborate with SVP and General Counsel and CEO to execute a federal government affairs strategic and annual plans
    -- Maintain broad awareness of the political environment, trends, positioning and opportunities for implementing IRI’s interests
    -- Work with member representatives and external stakeholders to drive results through the federal legislative and political process
    -- Develop and maintain high-level, bipartisan political relationships and relationships with insurance, securities, retirement and banking industry leaders and other trade associations

  2. Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America - Public Relations Intern

    The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc., a national association representing a quarter of a million professionals and small business owners across the country, is looking for an intern to assist the directors of public affairs and broadcast media.

    The public relations intern would help with media monitoring, writing projects, the association’s annual events, video projects and other online and organizational projects.

    The ideal candidate is a mass communication, journalism or public affairs/relations undergraduate student interested in public relations from the perspective of a business association. Good organizational and communication skills, intellectual curiosity and a respectful and professional attitude are required. Must be able to juggle multiple deadlines and work independently.

    This is not a paid internship. You will be compensated with professional experience and academic credit.

    Requirements/Preferences:

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and course that provides academic credit for this internship

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style is a plus

    • Self-starter; ability to meet tight deadlines; strong attention to detail
