    About the Candidate
Laurie Anne Sayles is an advocate who learned early, as the youngest of six children, that sometimes it takes fighting to get your fair share. She has been perfecting this skill ever since. While balancing a full-time academic schedule, raising her daughter, working full time and dedicating her free time volunteering to support the changing needs in her district, she was just doing her fair share. Her passion for public service is echoed in the question posed by Martin Luther King Jr., “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?” Sayles slogan is Committed to Community, Dedicated to Progress. She represents a new perspective for the citizens of District 17. A proven leader, she would be a much needed new voice of progress in Annapolis. If elected, Laurie-Anne would be the first African-American woman ever elected to the Maryland General Assembly representing Montgomery.
