USDA's Office of Communications Internship Program Seeks News Information Assistants

News Information Assistants will be responsible for media monitoring and daily news clippings. We are looking for students who are available from 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and wish to be an active member of a high-level fast-paced communications team. Additionally, students must have strong writing skills and be comfortable pitching stories to news reporters.

All Office of Communications interns are volunteers, but school credit can be arranged.

Community Associations Institute - Digital Media Specialist

Community Associations Institute (CAI) is a 34,000-member, $12 million, educational and advocacy organization in Falls Church, VA. We seek a digital media specialist with 2-3 years of experience, preferably in not-for-profit field. The digital media specialist supports the education, membership, marketing and communications outreach mission of CAI in two ways: 1) creating, editing, producing, and posting video, audio, and text content on community associations through various online media including; websites, blogs, social media sites, and online communities; and 2) developing and executing a robust digital marketing and social media strategy to engage members, potential members and the public on the interest of community associations.

The digital media specialist produces online and digital content for the purpose of expanding CAI’s activities, outreaching to and engaging with CAI leaders, current and prospective members, CAI chapters, the media, legislative and regulatory officials, allied organizations, real estate professionals, developers and builders, website visitors and, as feasible and practical, the general public.

Responsibilities
• Develop and execute strategies to engage CAI members, potential members and the public through social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) as well as CAI’s private online community, The Exchange.
• Serve as the community manager for The Exchange and the go-to expert for our online community software, share relevant updates with stakeholders and implement programmatic requests and initiatives in the online community.
• Oversee CAI website and best practice sharing among staff for a cohesive, visually appealing and user friendly web presence.
• Incorporate marketing and media plans into digital platforms to help meet business goals for CAI. Work closely with all departments to support their use of digital tools and platforms; manage CAI’s digital media schedule; assist marketing team and various departments with writing for web, social media and email marketing campaigns.
• Measure, analyze, and establish benchmarks and optimize marketing related content in the various digital communication channels. Report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals. Evaluate user experience across multiple channels and customer touch points.
• Cultivate opportunities for linking chapter and CAI digital marketing. Promote and share best practices.

Required Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications
• Strategic communications and marketing
• Written, oral and digital communications
• Website development and promotion
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
• Solid computer skills (MS Office, Web proficiency, social media platforms)
• Proven experience managing digital marketing and social media campaigns; knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), search engine optimization and content management systems

Preferred Skills
• Experience with non-for-profit membership associations
• Experience implementing and managing digital marketing campaigns and content for websites and social media platforms
• Experience working with association leaders and chapters
• Experience with graphic design professionals
