National Center on Educations & the Economy - Policy & Communications Associate

The National Center on Education & the Economy (NCEE) is seeking a Policy & Communications Associate to support NCEE’s policy analysis, media relations and outreach efforts, online presence and social media strategy. The Associate will work closely with the Vice President, Communications Director and policy team to develop and implement communications and public relations strategies as well as conduct policy research and analysis to support those activities. The Associate will assist in the development of written, graphical and electronic communications to support NCEE’s mission.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities will be to:
• Support the Communications Director’s management of press strategy as well as day-to-day media relations for NCEE, CIEB and NISL.
• Support the organization’s online presence including updating NCEE’s website through a CMS system, assisting in the development of the orgainziation’s social media strategy and content.
• Aide publicity efforts and assist in event planning for all publication releases.
• Support NCEE senior leadership with education policy research and memos in preparation for major public events and ongoing state, national and international consulting.
• Work with the Center on International Education Benchmarking policy team and with NCEE’s school leadership program to produce monthly e-newsletters  brainstorm ideas, oversee process with attention to timeline, post content online and send out using email marketing software.
• Generate press materials including but not limited to press releases, one-pagers, infographics, Q&As and web copy.
• Support President, Vice President and Director when needed in preparation of presentations to international, national and state audiences; assist with PPT presentations.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and online.
• Team player with ability to balance multiple projects independently.
• Passion for and experience in conducting education policy research.
• Demonstrated experience in multi-tasking, prioritizing, and meeting expectations and goals.
• Experience with online publishing and website CMS including WordPress.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills, planning abilities, and attention to detail.
• Two years minimum relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Education Policy or a related-field.

Location: Position is located in Washington, DC.
