National Fund for Workforce Solutions - Communications Assistant

The National Fund is an initiative of national and local funders whose mission is to drive practices, policies, and investments that enable workers to succeed in good jobs, provide employers with a skilled workforce, and build more prosperous communities. The Communications Assistant will assist the Communications Director in content development and strategic communications and work with the CAO on tasks surrounding communications related to grants, proposals, funders and events.

Position requires close collaboration and coordination with other team members. Responsibility, flexibility, excellent judgment, strong sense of initiative and ability to act independently are essential to succeed. Communications Assistant will report directly to the Communications Director. Position is based in Washington DC.

Responsibilities

• Develop blogs, bylines, features and/or multimedia content on local and national activities (including: launch of new initiatives, programmatic outcomes, and testimonials of program value from participants and businesses) for external communications, funders, collaborative partners and evaluation activities.
• Manage the National Fund’s Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn platforms and produce social media toolkits and content for partners.
• Manage National Fund communications tools including its CRM and mass-marketing systems, collaboration platform, and its webinar platforms
• Produce email campaigns and regular correspondence to philanthropic audiences and local partners about National Fund activities and successes.
• Assist National Fund staff in facilitating information sharing and peer-learning between National Fund regional collaboratives.
• Support the Communications Director in managing the production of National Fund publications and designed materials.
• Assist in website maintenance to ensure accurate representation of the National Fund and effective archival of National Fund materials and activities.
• Draft and send gift acknowledgment letters.
• Assist in review and research of proposals and reports.
• Prepare meeting materials and assist with administrative tasks as necessary
• Assist the National Team in preparing for conferences and meetings

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in communications or a similar field with extensive research and writing responsibilities Impeccable oral and written communication skills required
• Ability to conduct qualitative research and present findings in multiple written formats including blogs, testimonials, and bylines
• Outstanding attention to detail with particular competency in copy-editing
• Resourcefulness and ability to think independently
• Strong professionalism with the ability to function efficiently in a busy environment
• Be a self-starter with the ability to offer suggestions and contribute to the improvement of processes and projects
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, including remote staff, on multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Expected to work independently and/or as a team member with initiative, motivation, flexibility, organization and attention to accuracy of projects and tasks
• Experience in resource development, preferred
• Knowledge of workforce development, talent management or poverty alleviation, preferred.
