Media Relations Manager, Government Affairs

Join the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Washington D.C. office as a Media Relations Manager for the Government Affairs Department. The Media Relations Manager will report to the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and will work closely with government affairs staff to advance MGMA’s advocacy and policy agenda.

Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and manage strategic media relations plans to advance MGMA’s advocacy and policy agenda;
• Cultivate collaborative working relationships with national press contacts, healthcare trade press contacts, publicity community, and influential opinion leaders in Washington;
• Write and edit press releases, advocacy statements, and other literature;
• Promote MGMA’s message via online and social media channels;
• Propose ideas to enhance media coverage;
• Secure effective media placements assisting MGMA advocacy goals;
• Work closely with internal subject matter experts and public relations team to ensure a cohesive and effective message to the public; and
• Monitor media coverage and disseminate detailed analytics to staff.

Candidates should have three to five years’ experience in public relations, communications, or a related field. Experience in-house or at an agency working with health care clients is preferred. A demonstrated interest in health policy is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
