Goodbye to All That
Hello Friday job-shoppers and welcome to the final regular edition of DCPA+CJ!
As noted earlier, I am ending this 11+ year, 3,074-post (good grief, that's amazing) enterprise because it's time to reduce the sitting-in-front-of-a-computer hours in my life. I doubt my days will come to resemble a Michelob Ultra commercial, but I think getting some more exercise and outside-time will follow. I've enjoyed hearing from so many people over the years that have found a job through the blog or at least made their search a little easier and more fun. Folks seemed to like it, and that's why I've kept with this odd-but-fulfilling hobby. Thanks for the job-submissions and all the kind words.
This is (most likely) the last regular edition of the blog. I do plan to run a list of all the previously jobs with pending deadlines in one post on Sunday – and I'll probably write some job-searching advice and a big set of relevant job-board links in the next couple weeks.
Feels a little weird to be signing off right in these unsettling times, but otherwise it's been great. Good luck in your job-searches & all things and feel free to drop me a line if you ever feel like chatting.
Now, on to the jobs; a lot of direct-to-us submissions lead the set.
Open internet advocate Public Knowledge is seeking a Policy Advocate/Counsel with substantial experience in competition, communications, technology or copyright law and policy; a JD can substitute for some of the experience – we’re told they are keeping the job open past the currently noted deadline.
Strategic communications cabal Kivvit is in search mode for:
The Patient Access Network Foundation is seeking a Content & Social Media Manager (pdf) with 3-5 years of experience writing compelling and persuasive copy on behalf of clients or an organization for online channels & managing/contributing to its social media presence.
Education advocate/resource Learning Heroes is looking to fill these roles:
Jolt supports Latinos to make change and have a say in how the Lone Star State runs; your spot in that effort would be as Communications Director – 5+ years’ communications & fluency in Spanish required – Austin or Dallas, TX – search managed by Democracy Partners
The Corn Refiners Association has shared Summer 2020 Intern (scroll to find) opportunities in government relations, food policy, trade policy, and environmental policy – paid positions.
Squared Communications is seeking a starting-ASAP PR Intern for a range of media relations, research, and support duties – $15/hr
The American Association for the Advancement of Science has let us know they are seeking a Summer 2020 Intern to support their SciLine resource for journalists – paid position – we also see an Editorial Coordinator post supporting their Science Advances team – both posts note an Apr. 8 deadline to apply
Brookings Institution – Staff Assistant supporting the USC-Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy – at least one year of relevant experience required; conference planning experience and background in a research, policy, or academic setting preferred.
Georgetown University
Nature Conservancy
American University
Pew Charitable Trusts
Burson Cohn & Wolfe – New York
American Forest & Paper Association
… and finally, part 2: Director of Communications for the FDA/Center for Drug Evaluation & Research seems like a job for these times (a pretty great job, too), and an apt note to go out on – $131k-$197k – apply by Mar. 24
Best wishes for a safe & happy weekend and another 20,000 days beyond that from your favorite™ public affairs jobs resource. We'll see you around.
