Not Penske Material

Medimmune has the call out for an Associate Director, Advocacy (search Govt. Affairs/Pub. Policy category or req # 01358) to join a cadre of passionate professionals at their Gaithersburg corporate HQ. The new AD will be responsible for building partnerships with national patient advocates, physicians, and advocacy/disease-oriented organizations – all working in concert with their PR & government affairs colleagues, presumably including their next Government Affairs Manager (req # 01345) hire.

Marine Biologist is oft-cited in TV/film as a cool and/or desirable job – even George Costanza invoked it as an employment alias. There must be something fun and fabulous about this whole marine biology racket – so go ahead and get an up close look this summer as Ocean Policy Intern with the Marine Conservation Biology Institute. Because, really, you would be a lousy Latex Salesman – and you’re surely not Penske material.

Staying with the life aquatic – PetroAlgae is skimming the surface for a Government Relations/Regulatory Specialist with lobbying experience and a track record for securing grants and government guaranteed loans. Experience working with USDA and DOE preferred. PA is expanding their global presence in preparation for rapid market expansion, worldwide deployment of its business and technology solutions, and almost certain planetary domination/enslavement of masses.*

What to do with that recent Capitol Hill scheduler experience? One option would be to apply for the Scheduler, Leadership Team position with the National Association of Realtors. You’ll even remain close to the Hill at NAR’s Union Station area location.

Times are tough all over. Does that mean you would consider the Web Communications Administrator job with technology association IEEE in Piscataway, NJ? If yes, you’ll develop business requirements, streamline information architecture, track web analytics, create user documentation and support a variety of other communications platforms. Search here if previous link proves problematic.

If not Piscataway, how about Dallas? Might be a good option if you’re a fundraising pro ready to serve as Political Affairs Director for an unknown Texas group with a $1.3 million PAC operation. Winning candidate will oversee reporting, fundraising and communications activities for the PAC operation, and will take home $89k-$120k (plus bonus) for their labors. Search managed by Corporate Search Partners.

The very nice folks at CongressDaily, National Journal Group's twice-daily publication for Capitol Hill insiders, would like to engage an Assistant Production Editor. Duties include design and layout for the morning edition, CongressDailyAM, as well as web update work. Detail- and deadline-driven types encouraged to apply.

An unknown Fortune 200 company is looking to identify their man or woman in DC – a Washington Representative to manage variety of legislative, political, and grassroots activities. And, a similarly-shy Fortune 500 concern is putting out feelers for an Executive Assistant/Office Manager to provide exemplary administrative support to a VP of GR and two other professionals.

Astra-Zeneca is seeking a Senior Manager, Federal Government Affairs for advocacy work on legislative and reimbursement issues before Congress and CMS. Not surprisingly, Hill, Executive Branch or lobbying experience in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry is preferred.

Today's job search resource – ASAE's Career Center is the clear leader for association-oriented opportunities in DC and beyond.

* Domination/enslavement activities not specifically referenced by PetroAlgae, but it's obviously the logical next step after expanding global presence and worldwide deployment. Don't say I didn't warn you!
