Women Work! The National Network for Women's Employment has Spring 2009 Intern opportunities in Development, Communications, Membership and Field Services, Special Projects, and Public Policy.

World at Work is a nonprofit focusing on compensation, benefits, work-life and integrated total rewards. They have a fairly fresh call out for Public Policy Professionals here – you may also wish to note older Executive Assistant and Media Relations Manager openings at that link that we have previously featured.

The Director of Corporate Relations slot with the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery Foundation is a little outside our usual beat; however, it may be of interest to some of you with broad PR, fundraising or association management skills. They are Metro-convenient in their new Old Town location.

Three jobs of interest with the Independent Community Bankers of America: Assistant Director, Publications – and – Regulatory Counsel – and – Compliance Policy Manager. The first is a writing/editing-heavy position, and editorial experience, AP Stylebook chops and electronic/blog skills are welcomed. The latter pair of regulatory jobs focus on advocacy before financial agencies and Congress, with varying degrees of experience sought.

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons seeks an Assistant Director of Government Relations to help build their strategy for lobbying the Congress and the administration on legislative/regulatory issues, along with the usual attendant committee work and PAC/grassroots activities.

Want to be the next Director of Federal Relations for the University of Washington? First, select “staff jobs” and search for Req #50510 in the link we’ve provided. Next, convince them that you’re the person with the skills to juggle a complicated calendar of two time zones (you’re headed out to lunch here while they’re just getting to the office on campus) and that you’ve got the strategic focus and dynamic skill sets they seek. Frequent trips to Seattle are part of the job, as a dynamic thinker like you might guess. Apply by Dec. 12.

Burson-Masteller – the crown jewel* of the globe-spanning Young & Rubicam/WPP Empire – seeks a new Public Affairs Director for business development, counsel/strategy to current clients, staff supervision and relationship building. Issue management and media relations expertise are required.

An unnamed government agency is seeking a Public Affairs Officer (keyword: 1113) to maintain internal and external websites and provide other communications outreach assistance. Secret-level clearance and Share Point experience necessary. Via Library Associates.

The Post ad says doesn’t explicitly say this Communications Professional position is with Potomac Communications Group – but that’s where your application appears to be headed. Even if you don’t have the writing, problem, and communications project management skills they seek, you might want to take a look at the PCGPR web site, even if it’s just for the book & movie recommendations. I’m going to give Absence of Malice a shot.

The World Wildlife Fund seeks a Director of Media Relations to oversee communications strategies that will result in high-level coverage of WWF’s programs and partnerships. They’re looking for at least 10 years related professional experience; knowledge of conservation and climate issues preferred.

You have until December 9 to apply for the Public Programs Coordinator position with the Architect of the Capitol. Successful candidate will be responsible for public relations efforts for the US Botanic Garden. Pay range is $58-$76k, job ID: BG-2009-020.

Today’s job search resource is the impressively comprehensive Think Tank/NGO directory compiled by Worldpress.org. We found many of the intern opportunities featured just below via this site. They are also seeking a Part Time Web Editor.

* Used to work there; great company.
